What is a Terminal Learning Objective?
Learning objectives help us create effective training programs that are focused and measurable. Terminal Learning objectives should be designed for each task in the training and focus on the results not the process.
Terminal Learning objectives have three aspects:
1.) Task or Performance: Is what the learner will be doing and how he or she will demonstrate the knowledge skill or behavior.
2.) Condition: This shows what conditions the participants should perform the task.
3.) Standards: Tells what level the participants should perform the task at.
Remember to always use the learner's perspective when writing Terminal Learning Objectives. Also, you may need to determine if the Terminal Learning Objective needs a Enabling Objective, which we will talk about in the next blog.
